Outdoors, the Sculpture Park is a true adventure. Over 50 sculptures by renowned artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Anish Kapoor and Tony Cragg are scattered throughout the park, inviting you to wander, discover, and engage with art in unexpected ways. Each piece interacts beautifully with the natural surroundings, making every visit unique.

A field trip into old-growth woodland and birdlife
–––
Excursion
23/9
Enjoy a unique nature excursion into one of Hadeland’s old-growth forests together with a skilled ornithologist and biologist. Discover how ancient woodland, rare lichens and diverse birdlife are all connected in this rich and fragile ecosystem an hour and a half from Oslo.
The bus will take you deep into the woods of Hadeland. Next to an idyllic lake, you will be served a Norwegian “matpakke” lunch in deluxe version, featuring local ingredients and classic flavours to fuel your forest adventure. Then you’ll head into the old forest, where your guides will introduce you to characteristic species such as the beard-like lichen Dolichousnea longissima, different mosses, and other fascinating flora that thrive in undisturbed woodland.
As you move deeper into the forest, you will learn about red-listed birds that depend on old trees and dead wood, with chances to observe species such as crested tit, three-toed woodpecker and Siberian jay. With a bit of luck, you may also witness bird ringing and gain insight into how this method helps researchers monitor populations and migration patterns. The programme includes one hour of individual exploration time, where participants can quietly study the rich variety of plants, fungi and birdlife at their own pace. During this time, the guides will be available in the area for questions, identification help and short mini-talks for those who want to learn even more.
